Applied Principles of Gas Turbines and Centrifugal Compressors

This class has been described as a gas turbine fundamentals class that provides a solid foundation to any employee involved in the operation and monitoring of gas turbines and centrifugal compressors.

The course topics include:

  • Introduction to gas compression equipment
  • Station overview, gas piping, and general layout of the package
  • Gas turbine operation
  • Combustion basics and exhaust emissions
  • Centrifugal compressor operation
  • Unit Operations
    • Turbine performance curves
      • Gas turbine operating limits
      • Ambient temperature effects
      • Filter and exhaust duct pressure losses
      • Surge control
    • Centrifugal compressor curves
  • Support systems operation and normal maintenance
  • Generalized unit sequencing

This class is intended for equipment operators, supervisors, engineers, gas controllers, and other personnel responsible for gas turbine and centrifugal compressor equipment. There are no pre-requisites required to attend. This class is taught at the customer's location. (24 training hours)
